The Makhnovist Flag is a revolutionary black banner associated with the anarchist movement led by Ukrainian insurgent leader Nestor Makhno during the Russian Civil War. The flag features a black field bearing a white skull-and-crossbones beneath the Cyrillic word "СМЕРТЬ" ("Death"), accompanied by the slogan "Death to all who stand in the way of freedom for the working people." The stark black-and-white design reflects the traditional symbolism of anarchism, while the skull motif emphasizes defiance, revolutionary struggle, and resistance against oppression.

Historically, black banners of this type were carried by the Revolutionary Insurgent Army of Ukraine between 1918 and 1921. The Makhnovists fought against monarchist, nationalist, Bolshevik, and foreign forces in an effort to establish a stateless federation of self-governing communities across southern Ukraine. Although the movement was ultimately defeated, its banners became enduring symbols of anarchism, libertarian socialism, and peasant self-rule. Today, the Makhnovist flag remains one of the most recognizable revolutionary flags of the twentieth century and is frequently displayed in historical commemorations, political demonstrations, and anarchist movements worldwide.
