choosing the right flag size

At Flagmaker & Print, we offer a default collection of 9 flag sizes, manufactured as both indoors and outdoors flags.

The right flag size for you will depend on your needs and space. Is your flag intended for flying outdoors, or as indoors decoration? Are you printing a flag for a convention, a community event, or just for yourself?

Basic Flag Sizes

All our flags are manufactured to a 3:5 ratio. This is an averaged ratio that encompasses most national flags in the world.

However, we can also manufacture flags to other preferred sizes, ratios or shapes. These requests can be submitted by selecting the 'Custom Size' option when you order, or placing a design request via our Bespoke Order product page.

Our typical sizes include:

  • 3x5ft (91x186cm): A full-sized flag, perfect for flying on a flag pole or as an accent for a living room, office or convention.
  • 2x3ft: A reduced full size flag for smaller poles or rooms.
  • 1.2x2ft: A handy flag for accenting.
  • 12x18in: A hand-waving flag with a stick to use at conventions or gatherings.
  • 6x4in: Desk Flags with a foot and base included, great for giving your desk a personal touch.

  • Bespoke size and/or cut: This includes specific flag shape and format requests that don't fit our normal offering. For this, see our Custom Order page

Different sizes compared

Refer to the image here to compare our different flag sizes to each other. Every 3:5 flag is proportioned using the DIN (Global Industrial Standard) practice of using the short side as long side for every step up or down.

This sizing system is also used for paper sizes in Europe, for example, where paper size is expressed in A or B-format (A4 being letter-sized)
