✒️ The Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army flag was used by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) during the early stages of the Chinese Civil War (1927–1949). Featuring a red field symbolizing revolution and sacrifice, the flag bears a large white star with a black hammer and sickle at its center, representing the unity of workers and peasants under communist ideology. Along the hoist, the vertical Chinese characters "中國工農紅軍" (Zhōngguó gōngnóng hóngjūn) translate to “Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army,” denoting the military forces of the Communist movement led by Mao Zedong and Zhu De.
This banner became closely associated with the Long March (1934–1935), a defining episode in the CCP’s rise to power, during which the Red Army retreated across thousands of kilometers to evade Nationalist forces. The flag served as both a symbol of revolutionary resilience and a rallying emblem for communist forces throughout the protracted struggle that culminated in the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949.
