✒️ The Laser Kiwi flag was created in 2015 by Lucy Gray, a former ACT Party candidate, as a proposed flag of New Zealand. She designed the flag in Microsoft Paint during an evening. Inspired by the many "deadly animals" in Australia, she took a Kiwi icon and turned it into a deadly animal. When the initial four chosen options were released for the first stage of the New Zealand flag referendums, Gray stated that she was "uninspired" by the designs as they "didn't derive much meaning" for her. During the New Zealand flag referendums, the Laser Kiwi flag became a large social media phenomenon and was featured in comedy routines by comedians, such as John Oliver, discussing the flag referendum and New Zealand in general. The flag features a New Zealand fern and a kiwi shooting a green laser beam from its eyes. The description of the flag stated that "the laser beam projects a powerful image of New Zealand. I believe my design is so powerful it does not need to be discussed." It was often joked by comedians that if the flag were to become the official flag of New Zealand, it would cause "fear" in New Zealand's enemies.

Astounding quality

The flagmaking tool was easy to use, Vincent the Vexillilologist was incredibly helpful, and the flag quality is top-notch. It's a REAL flag, not some cringey fabric but something that creates a real sense of pride for the entire Council of Andrews. I can't recommend this service highly enough, 11/10 would recommend!!

Shop does not honor return policy!

The flag was sent folded into 16, so there are very visible fold marks.

To send a flag I would expect you would normally roll it around a cardboard tube. I tried to iron it but it didn't do much.

Also, the logo of the company is sewn to the flag. It's a national flag, you shouldn't do that.

Anyway, I requested a return and did explain my reasons, but never got reply.

Hi Jean, Thanks for reaching out! Our flags do indeed arrive folded (this is explored on https://flagmaker-print.com/faq), but these folds can be easily ironed out (low temp settings, put a towel between the flag and iron). Unfortunately we can't deliver flags in rolled up packaging because of packaging size restrictions.

We took a photo from our family album and worked with ChatGPT to create a file that reflected what we wanted. We then took that file and manually uploaded it to Flagmaker. The results were beyond great. When I showed the finished product to our neighbors, they all wanted one. We'll be ordering more soon.
