✒️ The flag of Salt Lake City, Utah, adopted in 2020, features a design of two horizontal bars, blue over white, with a white sego lily in the upper hoist (canton). The sego lily is the state flower of Utah and holds significant symbolism, representing resilience and peace, especially referencing its historical role in sustaining early pioneers. The blue and white colors are meant to evoke the skies, snow-capped mountains, and the Great Salt Lake. This current design replaced a previous flag from 2006, and was the result of a city-wide contest, aiming for a more modern and inclusive representation of the city& values and heritage. In May 2025, Salt Lake City also adopted three additional "human rights" flags—the Sego Celebration Flag (based on the Juneteenth flag), the Sego Belonging Flag (based on the Progress Pride flag), and the Sego Visibility Flag (based on the transgender pride flag)—each incorporating the sego lily from the primary city flag.
