✒️ The flag of Virginia features a deep blue field with the state seal at its center. The seal depicts the Roman goddess Virtus, dressed as an Amazon warrior, standing triumphantly over a fallen tyrant, symbolizing victory over oppression. Virtus holds a spear and sword, while the defeated figure lies beneath her with a broken chain and fallen crown. Surrounding the scene is a white circular border bearing the state motto, “Sic Semper Tyrannis,” meaning “Thus Always to Tyrants.” Adopted in 1861, the flag embodies Virginia’s values of liberty and resistance to tyranny.
