✒️ The state flag of Hawaii, also known as the Ka Hae Hawaiʻi, is the only U.S. state flag to feature the Union Jack of the United Kingdom, reflecting the historical relationship between the Hawaiian Kingdom and Great Britain. The flag consists of eight horizontal stripes of white, red, and blue, representing the eight major islands of the Hawaiian archipelago. The Union Jack occupies the upper left corner (canton), symbolizing the British influence during the early 19th century when King Kamehameha I commissioned the flag. Officially adopted in 1845 by the Kingdom of Hawaii and retained after its annexation and eventual statehood in 1959, the flag represents Hawaii’s unique cultural and political history.
