✒️ Illinois is looking to change their flag. During civics class our teacher wished for us to create new flags for the state of Illinois. My design incorporates the familiar Chicago flag with symbols and attributes unique to the rest of Illinois. The Green representing the fertile land of Illinois and its rich history of agriculture, as well as the Blue representing the beautiful skies and or Lake Michigan. The White Oak and white tailed deer represent our connection with nature and the familiarity with both of our state symbols. The familiar 4 stars represent key events in the states history. The 1st representing statehood, followed by the candidacy of Abraham Lincoln, followed by the Chicago Fire, and then the impactful Pullman Strikes. I feel that this flag demonstrates what Illinois is to me, and I feel that even though this design is not likely to win, I feel that I would like to hold something this personal to me.
