✒️ This flag was a submission for the September hispanic flag contest and in this contest I designed a flag for a modern Al Andalus or officially the Federal Republic of Andalusia Here beloved you can find the lore of my idea of a modern Al Andlajs and information about the design of the flag. [FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF ANDALUSIA] Andalusia, officially the Federal Republic of Andalusia is a a transcontinental country located at the juncture between Southwest Europe and North Africa. It spans across almost all of the Iberian peninsula and part of the Western Maghreb and also has territory in the Atlantic Ocean. It also It overlooks the Bay of Basik to the north, Mediterranean Sea to the east and the Atlantic Ocean to the west, and has land borders with the Republic of Basik and the Sultanate of Fransa to the north, the Maghrebi Confederation to the east and the Songhai Federation to the south. The predominant religion in the country is Islam, but Andalusia has a decent Catholic and Jewish minority. These religions also contribute to the diverse culture of Andalusia which is a mix of Arab, Iberian, Berber, African cultures. Its languages are also very diverse with Arab and Berber being mainly spoken but also languages as Portuguese, Spanish and Basque. It has a population of roughly 94 million and its capital is Qurtuba, which lies on the Iberian part of the country. [FLAG DESIGN] The green-white-green flag is based on the flag of the autonomous community of Andalusia in Spain. I used it because well it is used by actual Andalusia, but it also fits as green and white are seen as Islamic colours. For the middle symbol I first used a octagram which was used as an Islamic symbol by Morocco and Andalusia but it was also weirdly used on a Andalusian Nationalist flag. On top of that is the eagle of Saladin which is a symbol used across the Arab world. I chose one that most resembled the one used on the flag of the Caliphate of Cordoba. On the breast is the crescent and star used by the Rif Republic and in the scroll is (hopefully) written in Arabic: Federal Republic of Andalusia.
